Hi Friends!
I’ve been working hard to keep up with my water intake, and I’m happy to report that I haven’t had any juice or soda in a while! It feels good to make those small changes and see them start to stick. But this week, I want to tackle another area that has been a bit of a challenge for me—alcohol.
Since I began focusing on drinking more water, I’ve noticed that I’ve also cut back on alcohol. In the past, I had a habit of reaching for a drink or a glass of wine to relax after a long day or when things weren’t going well. It was my way of unwinding or rewarding myself for getting through a tough week. Honestly, the temptation is still there. Can anyone else relate to this? Or is it just me?
Thinking about how many drinks that might add up to in a week is a little concerning, especially if it’s been a particularly rough one. I want to be clear—I don’t have any substance abuse issues, but using alcohol as a crutch to handle stress or to “celebrate” can lead to unhealthy habits.
So, this week, I’m challenging myself (and you, if you’re up for it) to cut down on alcohol. Let’s put it into perspective: a single glass of red wine or 2 ounces of vodka has around 130 calories. If you have one glass of wine five days a week, that’s about 650 calories just from drinks. And if you’re mixing vodka with a sugary mixer, that number climbs even higher.
I’m not saying you have to quit drinking entirely, but this week’s challenge is to reduce whatever your usual intake is. If you’re used to having a drink every day, try cutting it down to just one or two days this week. Let’s see how we do with that. We’re all at different levels on this journey, so let’s just aim for progress, not perfection.
I know this one might be tough, especially if you’re like me and enjoy that glass of wine to relax or feel like you’ve earned a drink after a long week. But we can do it. It’s about finding healthier ways to cope with stress and celebrate our wins without always reaching for a drink.
So, let’s make this next week a strong one! Focus on cutting back where you can and see how you feel. We’re taking small, manageable steps together, and that’s what will get us to our goals.
We’ve got this, friends! Let’s make Week 3 our strongest yet! 🍷🚫💪
