Stepping into the New Year: Let’s Get Moving!
Hey everyone!
So, here we are, making our way through the holiday season. It’s been a slow and steady build, with room for setbacks—and that’s okay. This time of year is all about small wins and not being too hard on ourselves. But now, as we inch closer to the new year, it’s time to step it up a bit. Let’s start incorporating some exercise into our routine!
Next week (or this week, if you’re feeling ambitious), let’s start walking. Walking is such a simple yet effective way to get moving, and it’s something most of us can fit into our lives. Hopefully, you live in an area with a safe place to walk. I know not everyone has that luxury—busy roads, poorly lit streets, or uneven sidewalks can make it tricky. But don’t worry, we’re going to get creative.
If you can walk safely in your neighborhood, that’s fantastic. If not, think about other options. Is there a park nearby? Maybe a large parking lot at work or a shopping center? I’ve done laps in parking lots plenty of times, and let me tell you, it works just as well! The key is to find a space that’s convenient and doesn’t require too much extra effort. The easier it is to access, the more likely you are to make it a habit.
Here’s the challenge for this week: Let’s aim for two days where we hit 10,000 steps. That’s it—just two days. Totally doable, right? Whether you spread it out across the day or knock it out in one go, the goal is to move and make it happen.
And, of course, we’re going to keep up with everything we’ve been working on: staying under our calorie goals, drinking plenty of water, and giving ourselves grace when things don’t go perfectly.
So, let’s do this! Let’s add this little boost to our routine and finish the year strong. You’ve got this, and I’m right there with you every step of the way—literally!
Let’s get started!
