A frozen ravioli sold in Massachusetts grocery stores has just been recalled because it may contain an allergen that was never listed on the package.

Deano’s Pasta, based in Somerville, Massachusetts, is recalling its Pear and Pecorino Triangoli Ravioli after discovering it may contain undeclared lobster.

Deano’s Pasta recalled its Pear and Pecorino Triangoli Ravioli over undeclared lobster.

What Was Recalled

The recall covers 1 lb. frozen bags of Pear and Pecorino Triangoli Ravioli, UPC 644216993994, with lot codes 090126126, 082526126, 081826126, and 073126126.

The product was sold in Massachusetts retail stores between August 10 and September 22, 2026.

Why It Matters

Lobster is a crustacean shellfish, one of the major allergens the FDA requires to be listed clearly on food labels. For most people, finding lobster in a pear and pecorino ravioli wouldn’t matter much beyond an unexpected flavor.

For someone with a shellfish or crustacean allergy, though, it’s a different story. An undeclared allergen means someone could eat this product without any warning, and a shellfish allergy reaction can range from hives and stomach upset to a severe, potentially life-threatening reaction called anaphylaxis.

Deano’s Pasta says the issue was discovered following a customer complaint and an internal audit that found a breakdown in its packaging process. No illnesses have been reported so far.

What to Do If You Have It

Check your freezer for 1 lb. bags of Pear and Pecorino Triangoli Ravioli with UPC 644216993994 and any of the four affected lot codes.

If anyone in your household has a shellfish or crustacean allergy, don’t eat this product. Return it to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

How to Verify This Recall

Read the FDA’s official notice on FDA.gov.

This is the same kind of undeclared-allergen issue we covered in the Whole Foods Cabricharme cheese recall over undeclared egg, which is worth a look if allergen labeling is something you watch closely.
