This is for anyone who has put together a charcuterie board, ordered carbonara, or eaten at an Italian restaurant recently in Florida, California, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, or Texas. Prime Line Distributors and Ferrarini USA recalled about 1,513 pounds of imported ready-to-eat pork guanciale over possible Listeria contamination.
USDA classified this Class I, its most serious rating. No illnesses have been confirmed so far. This product went to restaurants and food service, not retail shelves with a label you would check at home.
What Happened
Prime Line Distributors, Inc. (Florida only) and Ferrarini USA, Inc. (eight states) recalled imported dry cured pork jowl, sold under names including Ferrarini and DOK Guanciale. It was produced at an Italian facility, Est. 1937L Bome SRL, on May 21, 2026, and imported to the United States in July 2026.
USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall on September 6, 2026, after Listeria monocytogenes was detected.

Why This One Is Different
Most recalls give you a package to check in your own fridge. This one mostly did not. It went to restaurants and food service as an ingredient in dishes like carbonara and charcuterie boards, which means there is no label on your plate to check.
That is part of why USDA rated it Class I. The exposure risk is real, but it is invisible to the person who actually ate it.
Why Listeria Is Worth Taking Seriously
Listeria monocytogenes can cause a serious infection called listeriosis. Symptoms typically include fever and muscle aches, sometimes with nausea or diarrhea. In more severe cases it can cause headache, stiff neck, confusion, and loss of balance.
Pregnant women, adults 65 and older, and anyone with a weakened immune system face the highest risk. In pregnant women, symptoms can be mild, flu-like, but the infection can still lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, or premature delivery.
What To Do Right Now
If you have imported guanciale at home, check the lot code against LOT 263311US. If it matches, do not eat it.
If you recently ate at a restaurant serving Italian cured meats in one of the eight affected states, there is no product to check since this went through food service. The practical step is awareness, not a fridge check.
If you are pregnant, 65 or older, or immunocompromised and develop fever or muscle aches after eating cured Italian meats recently in an affected state, mention this recall to your doctor.

When To Call a Doctor
Call your doctor if you develop fever, muscle aches, stiff neck, or confusion after eating cured Italian pork products in Florida, California, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, or Texas recently, especially if you are pregnant, older, or immunocompromised.
