We Survived Thanksgiving!

Hey Friend,

If you’re reading this, it means we made it through Thanksgiving—high five! Honestly, I’m so glad to have survived it, even though I definitely overdid it on the food (and let’s not even talk about the desserts). But you know what? That’s okay. We’re human, and we’re allowed to enjoy ourselves sometimes. The key is getting back on track, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.

This week, I’ve been focusing on turning things around. I upped my exercise and stuck to drinking only water and green tea. It’s a start, and it’s helping me shake off the Thanksgiving aftermath. The truth is, there are always going to be days when we throw caution to the wind. The goal is to not let those days throw us too far off course.

Reactivating My Calorie Tracker

Here’s something new I’ve added to my routine—I reactivated my old calorie tracker app. (Yes, the free version, because we’re not about spending unnecessarily, right?) I always struggled with it before because eating out made it hard to accurately log calories. But when I cook at home, it’s much easier since I know exactly what’s in my food.

I set a calorie goal this week and worked hard to stay under it. One big change? Packing my own lunch for work.

The Lunch Hack That’s Changing Everything

Instead of grabbing lunch from the work cafeteria—which is loaded with salt and hidden calories—I brought food from home. And here’s the kicker: I didn’t eat it all in one sitting.

I ate half of my lunch during my actual lunch break and saved the other half for later in the day. By the time I got home, I wasn’t starving, so I didn’t overeat at dinner like I usually do. Let me tell you, this has been a game-changer. No more hangry binge-eating after work!

Staying Accountable While Eating Out

I know I’m not going to cook every single meal at home—life happens, and sometimes eating out is inevitable. But I’ve come up with a plan for those days. When I eat out, I’ll find something comparable on the calorie tracker app and log the higher calorie estimate. It’s not perfect, but it keeps me accountable and makes me think twice about my choices. Plus, it motivates me to cook more at home since it’s easier to track.

Progress, Not Perfection

No one is ever 100% perfect, and that’s okay. The important thing is that we don’t let one slip-up turn into a downward spiral. If you fall off the wagon, don’t stress—just hop back on.

For me, this week is all about staying consistent, monitoring my intake, and keeping the momentum going. Even if I make a burger and fries at home, I know it’s way better than what I’d get at a fast-food place.

So, let’s make this a week of gains—gains in healthy habits and maybe even losses on the scale. We’ve got this! Let’s see how much progress we can make this week.

Talk soon,
Me 💛
