When Life Hits You with an Injury… Now What?

Hey friends,

Let’s have a real conversation this week—about injuries. What do you do when your body throws you a curveball and your entire routine gets turned upside down?

Right now, I’m in that space myself. I’m nursing a neck injury, and let me tell you, it has been a scary and humbling experience. I can’t lift anything. I can barely turn my head from side to side. It’s uncomfortable. It’s frustrating. And honestly? It’s messing with my mental game.

All those healthy habits I worked so hard to build? They’re slipping. My usual prep, my workouts, even my mindset—it all feels a little out of reach right now. And yeah… I’ve been freaking out a little bit.

But here’s how I’m getting through it—and if you’re dealing with an injury too, I hope this helps.

1. First Things First: See Your Doctor

Listen, I’m all for home remedies and natural healing, but when you’re injured, don’t play around. If you’re not absolutely sure what’s going on or how to treat it, go see your doctor. You don’t want to risk making things worse or slowing down your recovery.

I’m staying in close contact with my healthcare provider, and I encourage you to do the same if you’re hurting.

2. Simplify Your Meals

Chopping veggies, lifting pots and pans—nope, not happening right now. And that’s okay.

I’m learning to lean into simple meals. That might mean pre-washed greens, microwaveable brown rice, or using my slow cooker so I don’t have to do much prep or lifting. It’s not fancy, but it’s nourishing—and it’s enough.

3. Movement—Even Just a Little—Still Matters

Exercise? All I can manage right now is walking. That’s it. And honestly, that is enough.

Sometimes we think if we’re not doing a full workout or sticking to our plan 100%, we’re failing. But that’s not true. Movement is medicine, and even a short walk can help lift your mood, boost circulation, and keep you connected to your goals—gently.

4. Grace Over Guilt

This part might be the hardest. I’ve been tempted to beat myself up about not eating perfectly, not working out, not checking every box. But I keep reminding myself: healing takes priority. This is just a season, and it won’t last forever.

Sometimes, all we can do is the basics—and you know what? The basics are powerful.

So if you’re dealing with an injury right now, or just not feeling like yourself, please be kind to your body and give yourself space to heal. Do what you can—and let that be enough.

We’ll bounce back. We always do. 💪💛

Have you ever had an injury that threw you off your game? What helped you get through it?

With grace and healing,
– Your friend on the journey
